Finances

Data source: Form 9 financial data

Using expenditure data provided by Indiana school corporations and charter schools, the Indiana Department of Education presents these visualizations to promote financial transparency and to support valid comparisons of spending across Indiana school buildings. These data fulfill requirements of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act and the provisions of Indiana Code 20-42.5-3-7.

Note From the School

There are some unique factors to consider when viewing the per pupil spending amounts for South Ripley Schools. We have large free/reduced lunch and special education populations, and it takes more dollars to educate these students. Additionally, we host a combined moderate/severe special education program with Jac-Cen-Del. On the expenditure report, those show up as South Ripley expenditures, however, the Jac-Cen-Del students are not factored into the per pupil average. This makes the per pupil expenditure look higher. South Ripley made a commitment to the importance of junior high education in 2008 when the decision was made to separate the high school and junior high student populations. Since the junior high has only two grade levels, the principal salary skews the per pupil expenditure data, making the junior high expenditure look higher. In reality, the junior high principal’s position also assumes some corporation duties including corporation test coordinator and corporation safety coordinator. Additionally, South Ripley has committed to a full time counselor and reading teacher at the junior high level given the unique needs of students in that age range. The Indiana Department of Education recommends that a corporation should be within a plus or minus 30% range of the state average per pupil expenditures, and we are well within that range.
